14/04/2002 Chelsea 1 Fulham 0 A goal by John Terry was enough to help Chelsea to a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Fulham. Centre-back John Terry scrambled the ball home to guide Claudio Ranieri's men into an all-London cup final against Arsenal. Terry squeezed the ball under Fulham goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar and into the net via the boot of Louis Saha in the 41st minute. Chelsea were dealt an early blow when left-back Le Saux, returning from an injury to his left calf, appeared to strain the muscle again when jogging under no pressure. After two minutes' treatment he was stretchered off to be replaced by Ferrer. In a game of few real chanves there was little between the team's as Jean Tigana's men looked at least the equal of Chelsea, but once again their inability to score goals cost them. After the game Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit was delighted after the Blues made up for their Worthington Cup disappointment to reach the FA Cup final. Petit's team were knocked out of the Worthington Cup at the semi-final stage earlier this season and the Frenchman was overjoyed to have finally helped Claudio Ranieri's side reach a major final. Petit said: "I think it's going to be a big game for both clubs and for me as well. "I'm very happy to be in a final after we missed a final in the Worthington Cup. I'm really pleased for the fans. "Fulham played well in the second half. They were very dangerous, their passing was very good and it was very difficult to put them under pressure."
